Montana agates are primarily found in the gravel beds of the Yellowstone River and its tributaries, created 60 million years ago from volcanic activity. Known as Montana's state gemstone, these are classically known for their translucent blue-gray to clear appearance with orange to black dendritic, moss-like inclusions.
