Mara Mamba (Tigers Eye) Cabochon

Mara Mamba is a rare variety of Tigers Eye, a chatoyant material found only in the Hamersley Ranges, located in northwestern Australia. It occurs as isolated pockets in seams of blue crocidolite, and typically contains intricately beautiful patterns of shiny metallic hematite and red jasper. It also contains asbestos, which gives it the chatoyant effect and is toxic to work with as a lapidary artist; but should also be set with caution by jewelers.
