Fischer Stone Cabochon

"George W. Fischer, in 1965, accidentally discovered a method of inducing dendrites to form in agate. His electrochemical displacement process was begun by soaking natural snakeskin agate slab in a solution, such as copper nitrate, which gave it a lovely blue-green coloration. The slab was removed from the solution, and a small piece of iron was then placed upon the still-damp agate, causing a displacement of the copper in the copper nitrate, which seeped down into the microscopic pores of the stone."
